Default Injectors and Air/Fuel ratio...help

got a turbo d16y8, and need a little help. i have an FMU but i'm running stock injectors. they hold up fine until around 4-5 pounds then it cuts out. obviously i need bigger ones, and theres several names out there, so which brand seems to be the best? i'm not going for an all out race performance set up, so 310's, 370's or 440's? i'm also thinkin my air/fuel ratio is not balanced. i can feel a hold up and the exhaust will give a little pop when i push in the clutch when i slow down after mid-range RPM's. my gauge will be here within a day or two, so whats the best way to adjust your ratio once you've found out whether its rich/lean? on the side, i've had my turbo on and running for about 4 days now, and it still tends to smoke out the exhaust. not bad but you can see it. i know its oil burning off, and i was told it was going to for a few days because the turbo has to be broken in and everything. anyone else had this problem last more then a few days?

I think you need to go get dyno tuned. What is your set-up? The stock injectors should be good for 200whp.

FMU + untuned + not knowing your AF ratio + weird popping noises = blown motor in a few days (if not already)

Smoking turbo for a few days to break it in is a crock of ****. If you're smoking and it's from burning oil you probably have some busted ring lands. Which sounds like a good possibility if you're really running the way you say it is.
Do a compression test. My money's one you having a jacked up motor.
Congrats. Welcome to the world of motor building.

well not blown yet. it handles well up to the 4-5 pound range, then the fuel just cuts out when i push it any higher. as far as the oil goes i've had several problems with it. i had some major leakage through the intake and exhaust b/c my return line was too small and oil was backing up in the turbo and leaking through the seal between my turbo and downpipe. i moved up to the -10AN line and it has leaked a drop outside the turbo since. so the smoke is either a little oil or an offset A/F ratio which is basically why i'm posting this. my set up now is pretty basic: d18y8, t3/t04E turbo, externally wastgated with a 5lb spring, HKS BOV, -4AN inlet (steel braided) line run from a sandwich plate, -10AN outlet. 10:1 Vortech FMU, Blox Missing Link...thats about all the main stuff. would like APEXi A/F controller be beneficial or would that be a waste of money?

Do it the right way. Missing link, FMU, AF controller. Meh, not a big fan of that pieced together junk.
Get a chipped P28 and get the thing tuned RIGHT.
