Default Open AC system. Any damage done?

I went to get my AC recharged since i did a swap. The metal lines have been disconnected for like 6 months and just hanging in my engine bay. The tech said that i would need a new reciever dryer. The silver metal canister that takes humidity out of the system basically needs to be replaced. Is this true or can i go ahead and recharge it with no problems.

You will need to replace the receiver/dryer, once it gets exposed to the atmosphere it looses its ability to pull moisture. Replace that and have them drain the system to get out all the moisture in the lines, then recharge it.
