Speedo stopped working, alternator bad?
alright to start off with the car is a 96 hatch with GSR swap. The fuse under the dash for the speedo/alternator keeps blowing out and also throwing a cel for electrical load dectector. I've retraced all possable wires to find a short but havn't found anything. The weird thing is the fuse doesn't blow right away, it usually takes a drive around the block to make it go. Also, it seems to go when the engine is just ideling while coasting. Has anyone have this happen? Could it possably be the alternator? Or would you surgest to replace the underhood fuse box where the ELD is?
How does your VSS look? I'm not an expert on this, but I would think a speedometer and an alternator would be on the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Yeah leave it to honda to have those two share a fuse. Tomorrow i'll be picking up more fuse's and dissconnect things to see what won't make it blow. But i would still REALLY appreciate any help with this one, this one problem may decide if i stay with honda's or take a loss and try something else

you might want to have your alt tested to make sure it is charging no more then 14.5v on the high side. ive seen some alts with bad reg's charge as high as 18v and fry wiring.
Alright so today i found some interesting things. After replacing the fuse, altenator showed 15.5ish volts, hooked up to battery went down to 14.45v which is all normal. Now the weird part, i had the car running, everything hooked up and all seemed normal. After 20 minutes of ideling i decided to look at the speed sensor. Pulled out the clip and that blew the fuse. Could my VSS be bad and cause the short? This is getting really frustrating
