Default 91 CRX Si Seats into --> 91 Civic Std.

Is it a direct bolt in? I tried searching, but to no avail.

Thanx, Tippyman.

No its not a direct bolt in. No seats convert directly from crx to civic or reverse. Your best bet is to swap out seat pans and then you should be in business. Might not be 100% though once bolted in. Might be a little wobbly.

I'm not 100% but I highly doubt the rails will swap. Those Idiots at Honda in 91 had no idea what they were doing

Anyway...seat pan swaps are cake. Just gotta pry out all the little metal clips around the pan and loosen a few bolts. I did it as a n00b with success and I've seen your project thread so I have faith

Lol thanx bro.

I read this during another search for "pan swap"

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by UltimX &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I recently bought a civic hatch (SI) seat and wanted to swap it into my 89 crx hf. Now, As i removed both seat pans I noticed that the seat pan is different itself. The mounting points are the same, but the pan itself is different.

Anyone want to help me out on this? even the pivot point from the bottem cusion to the middle cusion isn't even in the right spot.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Pics will be up shortly.

Best Pic i could do. if u noticed, the bottem portion of the seat cusion is way different than the other, besides the middle.

I'm not gonn have this problem will I?

That depends.

The 1989 CRX HF shared the same seat pan as the 1988 crx hf, dx and si. The 1989 dx and si crx -&gt; 91 have a different. If your running a 91 std and a 89 dx, si or 90-91 si seat you should be alright.

It looks to me like he was trying to run the wrong years.

I dont agree with you. Honda knew %100 what they are doing when it comes to seats. Today I just swapped a seat pan from a 91 USDM Civic DX with 91 JDM Civic SiR seat and the swap went with no problem what so ever. I think Honda knew that "we" over here in the USA would buy JDM seats and they made it so it is possible to use them in our cars. I <FONT COLOR="red">&lt;3</FONT> Honda

the thing is if the part where you need a 6mm allen key is on the inside of passenger and driver seat on the CRX,

it should work but the only reason why i think it might not work is because maybe the CRX seat is not as wide and the civic. than you will run into a problem that is not easily fixed. If that happens than what you are going to have to do is take apart both the top parts of the seats and put the CRX padding and cover on the STDs back support thingy. its not going to be fun and you might mess up the CRX seat if done incorrect but if you do it right it should turn out ok

I was being sarcastic. Can't beat the EF design.

I disagree with you on the JDM thing, atleast when they designed the 88-91's. Can't Imagine they had us in their minds in 88, but believe what you will.

i don't know for sure that this will work in your situation, but when i bought my JDM CRX LEII seats, they didn't swap directly into my 91 CRX Si, and the rails would not swap either so i had to do both the pans and rails. to swap the pans I had to trim away some of the foam on the underside of the seat bottom of the JDM seats to get the pans to fit. i took a sharpie to mark the areas i needed to trim and took a straight razor blade and trimmed it until the pans fit. you'd never know i did it if i didn't tell you, it's all hidden once you put it all back together.

so ur saying even if the pans are a little different, trimming the foam on the bottom of the seat can make it fit?

does it feel weird sitting on it if you cut foam out?

yes that is basically what i am saying, but i should clarify a little bit. i took the pan i wanted to fit and set it on the seat bottom. any foam sticking out on the sides of the pan is what i trimmed to get the pan around the sides so i could reattach the upholstery with the hog rings. i didn't trim any of the foam directly on the bottom of the seat cushion, so it wasn't sitting any lower than before.

oh, ok.

So I could do this, but I still might run into a problem with that allen key, is that what i'm hearing?
