Default GSR block shot... Use a B16 or LS block w/ GSR internals ?

The good news: I don't own a gun, so I haven't went postal !

The bad news: The Gsr block that I am about to rebuild has a hole in it !!!

Damn, this really sucks, just when you think things are going OK for once ! There is a hole in the block of this GSR block and we don't really have the $600+ to get another gsr block... the internals are already purchased... but now... no block !

I do, however have access to a couple of stock LS blocks and a B16 block. I need to get this gsr back on the road, so here are my simple questions:

1) Use the B16a block, it's a vtec block and prolly has all of the oil passages I need for the vtec head, it already has the water/oil in there
2) Use an LS block (no I do not want to know about LSVT)

Could I use either of these blocks in place of a GSR block ? Can I transplant the oil squirters to either block ? Whichever block I can use, I intend to swap the GSR internals over to it to keep everything else kosher... Would there be anything I would be missing here ? Will either block bolt on without a problem or are there any details that I would need to work out ? Would any machining to the block or internals need to be done ?

Please help with any input, I am in need here and really don't have the flow for another gsr block.

If you already have all the internals (crank, rods, pistons), use the ls block. Your extra expenses will come from maching the ls mains to accept the gsr block girdle and the fittings to reroute the oil to the head. You'll also be able to use the gsr oil cooler as well. All you will have to do is tap the block for a water outlet just like the one on the gsr block. The only dif between your block and a b18c will be the oil reroute. Don't forget to use the gsr oil pump if you go this route.

Thanks for the info so far. So aside from the LSVT style oil supply for the passages (I assume this is what you are referring to) would I need to plug the oil passage on the vtec head as I would in a typical LSVT ? Would the B16 block not be a choice here ? I will definitely use all vtec components I can... I only want the bare block to be replaced, I intend to use the vtec parts from the holy block. Any opinions/experience with swapping in the oil squirters on the LS block ?

BTW, I should not see any diff in displacement, correct ?
