Default over torqing oil feed fitting into turbo??

well as some may know my brand new turbo = siezed ..this is my explanation i recieved back from Garret after they inspected it...

"Hey Brian,

I got word from my turbo guys about your turbo. It appeared to them that the oil feed fitting was over-torqued into the CHRA which caused some retaining pins to be pushed into the cartridge-very bad.

Either way, they are working out what is salvagable and will have a price qoute for me ASAP."

.....should i have recieved this turbo with some kind of torque spec or warning at least so this wouldnt of happened??? Or is this completely my fault

Bullshit! What pins? Youd have to drill that mother in very deep to actually hit anything inside. I dont think its plausable.

the funny part is that the fitting only was in half way...and the turbo was band new ..only ran on the car for a minute...and we didnt hear the turbo spooling so we shut it down and low and behold was lock solid...

There ful of ******* ****. the GT CHRA is an inverted flare fitting. it not a pipe fitting like a t series. at least on mine its not. and the flare fitting is part of the casting and then machined out. there are no retaining pins to push on the hydrocelator muffler bearings in the turbo, make them warranty that ****

That is a terrible attempt at getting off the hook. Just stick to your guns and make them warranty it.

which turbo? Try searching for schematics to see whats inside there. I'd also like to see a pic of the fitting you put in there. I put a 90 degree elbow in my garrett and was trying to get it too tight, broke it off in it, but by no means was it close to hitting anything, but i had a small fitting. I've seen some that are rather large, if you managed to get it in there that far. I know on my center section theres not any pins to knock loose though, but like i said i would like to see what turbo you have.
