Default Header Install

I'm about to put on my headers tomorrow, a couple of my friends have advised against doing it on my own, but it doesnt seem that hard. One of them told me to be careful not to break the studs, but i dont see how that would happen, unless i like jumped on them.

anybody have any words for me about the difficulty level of this, any tips? i've read the How To Install a Header thread, btw.

thanks

edit: crap just realized i posted in a/c. oh well, it gets more views. heres a pic for fun.

your friends must be in 3rd grade if they don't think it's a 1 man job

put socket on nut

turn socket wrench to make the nut loose

remove nut

repeat for the rest of them

take old manifold off

put new header on

turn socket to tighten

replace the nuts using the method you used to take them off except turn them the opposite way

done

seriously look at the thing. find what needs to be taken off. unbolt the thing and bolt the new one on. the wd40 is for the nuts because sometimes they can be tight. i would use pb blaster on them instead of the wd40 personally. make sure you apply even pressure when taking them off so you dont sheer off the stud which is unlikley but if you cant figure out how to take it off then i guess its worth mentioning. you gotta learn somehow.

get a wrench that fits the o2 sensor

take it off and put it in the hole in the new header for the o2. should be in the same place so the wires will reach

i think the hole in the aftermarket header is on the other side as the stock one... blahhh...

and i read that you need a special socket for the o2 sensor.

what happens if you dont plug the o2 sensor back in?

im out here in san bruno... if you do it during the daytime tomorrow i can def roll through to help you out. wd-40 to loosen the nuts/bolts, and maybe an O2 sensor socket to remove it. (i just use a fatty 7/8 wrench)

here's a killer installation walkthrough
