Default Need a lil clarification.

Ok, I have been planning on once my dad buys me a new car(EG coupe/bubble in a couple weeks), that i would sell my 90' Nissan Maxima for 2K. And, I was gonna buy a b20 long block with that 2000 bucks. But, I know all about the weak sleeves, but was gonna only plan on goin vtec with B16 head, and get some cams and do a mild build to get 200-250, on pistons, rods, and build the head, along with skunk 2 IM. Will the sleeves hold up fine with that amount of power, or should i just go ls/vtec which can take the abuse. I just wanted to do a b20vtec for the torque. Because, if I go lsvtec i would go turbo.

Thanks for any help. And, yes i have searched.

Most B20 VTEC failures have been because of either Turbo with too much boost or people missing 4th gear and going back into 2nd @ 8k RPM. You should be fine with that setup, IMO.

So at about 200-250hp i would be good. Do i need any sort of engine management system, and dyno-tuning because i dont know where a dyno is anywhere around mid-TN. But, I have some friends in Team Evoulution(top notch team in TN) that can help me with tuning, and building it.

an engine management of some sort will be good, especially if you plan on going turbo. but if your going to deal with engine managements, or dyno tuning, leave it up to the experts. i know you said there is a respectable shop around your way, but that doesn't mean they know what they are doing. ask to see the cars they have tuned, the last thing you want is to spend money on a motor and it run like ****.

The only really good shop I know of in my town is owned by family friends. Performance Concepts of Murfreesboro, TN. They have an 500hp RSX, and Undermounted Camaro SS 900hp. Plus, I know them really good, soo I believe I can trust them, if I plan to do ems and tuning. But, I am lookin to go about 11.5cr and a top of 250hp. I think I can meet that by the time I graduate in May 2007. And, start a new project which will be turbo and budget will be alot higher since I will have a diploma and have a much better job where i get more than bout $600 a month... Or even work with my dad until I start some type of higher education, making close to $500 or more a week. Onlything about that is that he works out of town all week most of the time.

i just want alil more torque and also top end. plus this will b a nice project for me to be unique around here. Every1 runs normal factory manufactured engine. so either lsvtec turbo for me or b20vtec.
