Wierd ABS/Radio problem
Hi,
1997 Accord EX 2.2 automatic, 172K miles
I'm having a problem with the ABS light coming on and some sort of relay clicking under the passenger side dash. This only happens in taffic and only when I get off of the gas....like in stop & go traffic. It only happens when I'm just about to fully release the gas pedal. At the same time, the radio shuts off and comes right back on. The ABS light then goes out a few seconds later.
I looked under the dash for loose wires near the gas pedal and everythings clear. Same thing in the engine compartment.
Please help!

Yep... aftermarker Pioneer installed about 4 years ago.
There aren't any wires near the gas pedal or cable in the engine compartment. And, it always seems to happen when I take my foot off the gas, not on.

I 100% know what your problem is: The battery is crapping out.
I had exactly the same symtoms:
ABS light
Radio Problem
you should also notice your speedo going to zero then back up.
Replace the battery my friend (costco is cheap) and all your problems will be solved.

Hi,
Although this has been happening intermittently over the last 6 months, the speedo DID go to zero today for the 1st time! It's a fairly new (2 years) battery from AdvanceAutoParts.

Your battery might have a warranty. Careful though, sometimes even w/ the 'price adjustment', you still might be only a few bucks off costco's lower price.
Those Costco kirkland batteries are actually very good quality.
Don't forget to cleanup all your ground points and de-corrosion / de-acidify the battery cables with a solution of baking soda and water.

Hi,
I got a new battery today. Since I bought the old one, a Autocraft Titanium from Advance Auto, in Jan. of 2005, they gave me a new one since it was within the 3 year warranty period.... free of charge. They even took the old one out and replaced it for me. I was able to leave the wrenches in the trunk.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope the problem doesn't return. If it does, I'll have to think of a Plan B.
Thanks for the assist!!!!
