CAR Stereo PROBLEM PLEASE HELP!!
Alright so i drive an 96 gsr...and i have a pioneer deck. i know close to nothing about stereo so i take all my **** to my friends to work on. The previous owner ghetto wire almost everything so my friends rewire what was necessary. The problem is..when i am in neutral or parked..music works fine..it bumps and everything. Once i start driving then my deck restarts. I took it to stereo place..the guy had 24 yrs of experience..couldnt figure it out. My volts were constant 14. He said my radio is bad, but how can it be bad only when i put it in gear and start driving?
If it helps anyone...before when i had ABS and the abs went on..i would go to the trunk and play with the wires and it would shut off the abs light and when the ABS light was on my deck would restart. Ever since i did my motor swap. i didnt have the axles for abs so the light is on. Does it make any sense for the abs to be the problem? Would taking abs out eliminate it? Has anyone had this problem? Please help..!!!!!

I don't believe the radio wiring are linked to anything else in the car maybe clock or dome light.
I would run my own power, switch, and ground to narrow it down to the wires or the radio.

^^^^ i agree with this guy, its too easy to run your own 3 wire power supply than worry about all that crap, plus you have an uncommon problem and its one of those things i don't have time to sit here and think about, if i knew you personally or you lived close i would just tell you bring the car over, cause it sounds like you got alot of **** wrong..
We tapped the ground wire to run another ground. but the problem still occurred. I am going to try that power and switch thingy..hopefully my friend knows what you're talking about? Would it be possible that my motor is short ground but enough to start? That when i drive it causes a short, but when its in neutral its fine? My other friend did suggest a grounding plate and reground everything under the hood. Does that make any sense? of course jordan sparks, one step at a time, but would that even be a possibility?
It is hard to say what may be wrong without more clarification of what exactly is happening...
"The previous owner ghetto wire almost everything"
By "almost everything" do you mean everything electrical to do with the car or just the stereo?
"Once i start driving then my deck restarts"
Say what? Describe "restarts".
Obviously it is a connection problem, probably "triggered" by inertia, [car moving forwards] so the question is, does it happen if you go into reverse?
Either way it is an intermittent connection, but where that bad connection is will take some tracing and testing not made any easier if all the cars wiring is...
"ghetto wire almost everything"
and...
"i would go to the trunk and play with the wires and it would shut off the abs light."
Any electrical issues with your car should be dealt with, fixed properly or the circuit disabled or you will constantly be running into problems. 94

ghetto wire stereo wise. and it does occur in reverse... the deck restarts as in..it turns off and turns on like if i just turn on and off the car and how it would react to that.
If so then it is the radios acc./switched power, [red lead] that is losing power for a second.
The first thing I would do is check the connection of the HUs red acc. lead to the cars radio harness acc. supply lead, [yellow/red].
If good, check the radio acc. fuse, fuse 28 - 10A, [hot in acc. and run] in under dash fuse box, make sure fuse is not loose in it's socket, I would replace it with a known working fuse just to be sure, [swap it with another 10A fuse or replace it with a new one].
If problem continues you will need to install a "telltale" on the radios acc. lead, a test light or 12V bulb will work, connect test light or bulb to the HUs acc. lead, [at same place the HUs red lead is connected to the cars yellow/red acc. lead, the test light or bulb will turn on when you turn the ign. on, watch test light/bulb while putting car into gear and driving away, if radio cuts out, [restarts] and so does the test light/bulb, the problem is in the cars wiring, if on the other hand the HU cuts out but test light/bulb stays on, the problem is in the HU. 94

LMAOO..after reading your post i feel like i dont even speak english..no clue what you said..but hopefully my friend will...thanks i'll show him this post and let you know how it goes. very detailed btw thanks a lot.
Try connecting the ground directly to the body of the car. I think the problem is that you have a ground tapped into a wire and when you put the car in gear, the transmission has to ground out as well and the wire that you tapped into for the ground isnt a good enough ground to ground out an amp. Tell me how it goes.
