Default Whats up guys/girls i have few questions

First off hello to everyone, im from tampa fl in the military and just register on honda-tech. i have a 01 gsr and right now im going through the process of redoing EVERYTHING the who had this thing before me really didnt take good care of it. but when i get to the engine im not sure of what i really want to do. i have 2 choices. im thinking about getting a dart block for my gsr and just building and boosting that because i know it would be a beast, but im not a big racer, dont really go dragging so not really what i need. I also am thinking about getting a type r and going all motor trying to get 250 to the wheels. so my questions are has anyone ever had a dart block and if you have how much boost can it hold. and i know several people think 250 is not going to happen but i wanna know why is it because it will be undrivable for daily driving or just becuase it is really impossible to do.

yea...chances are it wont happen without some form of boring to a 2 liter and even then extensive bottom end and head work

250whp from an itr motor is gonna require a lot of $$$ and more cc's

but there are tons of threads asking the EXACT same question...so youll get the exact same answer.
answer these questions and then figure out what you want to do..

how much $$$ can you spend???
what do you want to the car to do??
how much time to do you have??

Theres a handfull of people who have hit the 250+ NA hp mark out of a b-series and unless you are one of the nations top tuners, then chances are you wont be building one any time soon.

Definately the dart block will be fully customized to what you want, i.e. bore size, sleeved, pistons, blah blah blah. they are really good blocks and are bullet proof. i'm not sure how much boost they can handle, but i'm sure more than 16 psi. 250 has been done N/A like the others have said, but it will be extremely expensive. might as well sell your block right now and do a k20 swap. they are beasts even with bolt ons. if you're not going to drag, i wouldn't recommend boosting with a built engine. of course you will be able to boost higher and safer with a built engine, if you're not going to use it, why even have it? boost with stock internals and limit yourself to 10 psi. whatever you decide on doing, make sure you do a grip of research.

if you have a gsr and you plan to "build the motor" with internals, then you are starting with a block of the type R anyway, do not waste your money on another block just to replace all the things that make it a Type R.

if you boost then you have a good motor for that as well, just make sure you know what you want and what you're doing.

the only advantage of type R motor if you swap the internals is the Type R head which flows better than a gsr head.

if you have the money to spend, go right ahead

well i cant find the quote button so i will just answer you questions. as far as time i have this car slotted at a 3 year project before all said and done. money over that peoriod of time for me is right around 10-15k. As far as what i want to do with car, im not a dragger or sreet racer i was looking into autocross and all that good stuff thats why boosting for me is pointless becuase i dont really need 400-500 hps. basicly i want a quick and extremly clean da with a jdm front end now that k20 was another route to go all motor on im gonna have to look into that and see how hard it is for a swap. anyway thanks everyone for there advice way better then tamparacing
