Whistling noise from my speakers???
Everytime i start my car there's this whistling noise coming from all my speakers(front and rear), could this be a bad rca? I was told by one of my friend that my rca is bad. Then i was told by my other friend that it could be my ground wire not grounded in a good spot? You can only hear the sound once i fully start the car up but if i turn the ignition half way everything is fine no whistling noise. What could be causing this? Any help would be great!
Gound loop either from
1)Bad RCA
2) bad ground at deck or amp
3) faulty equipment
I would say you have a 98% chance its either 1 or 2.

check both, it could also be an alt issue or even a tensioner problem. if u have a spare set of rca's, just run them to the amp and deck and start the car and see if it goes away. i can also try ground the rca's, u have to pull back some of the plastic coating and grab some of the metal sheilding and ground it. let us know what u come up with

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Do not ground the RCA Ground it may not be the same ground as car ground.

u can get a good ground almost anywhere. sand some paint back, put a ring terminal on there and a self tapper and your good to go. not exacty sure why u say he couldnt do that
I agree, it's probably a ground loop, [most common problem], but there are other reasons that can cause alt whine.
Need more info....
Is this in a Civic?
What mods have been done to the car, that have to do with electrical?
Makes and models of equipment.
What are you using for power and ground, [gauge]?
Where is amp mounted and how and to what?
How and where is amp grounded, how long is ground lead?
How and where is power cable run?
How and where are the RCAs run, what kind of RCAs?
Answer all the above and maybe I can help.

Because a lot of equipment use whats called a floating ground. This is not the same ground as car ground. Grounding an RCA ground to chassis ground will actually make your problem worse.
