my friend install my system a while back and there was a static noise to my 4 channel amp. the noise was really annoying and loud, we hook it up back to my deck and everything was fine no noise no nothing. we only heard that noise whenever the wiring was back to the amp. we thought it was the wiring so i went and bought a new amp kit and install it and the noise was still there. new wires we test 2 amps and same noise still there. the only time the noise went away was when i put everythign back to the deck. anyone know how to get rid of this noise cause we try everything. he said it was the alternator noise.

sorry its a 95 integra ls its a 300/4 JL amp my amp ground wire is about 1.5 feet maybe 2 and i ground on the bolt behind my back seat where the chasis is going up. i already split up all the wires already running from passenger and driver side.

Is it engine noise or static? Engine whine sounds like a high pitch noise that increases with engine RPMs. Usualy a grounding issue, RCAs ran too close to power, amplifier gains cranked, etc. If it is static or distortion that doesnt go away when you swap amplifiers, could be a faulty preamp output(s) on the head unit. I would try to connect a seperate audio source with the amp in the car, MP3 or Ipod with a 3.5mm to RCA connected to the amplifier inputs will point to or rule out the HU or amp/wiring.

yea i put back the wiring to the deck and no sound. the sound comes from the speakers not the engine. and yea it does increase as the rpm get higher and this ound is really loud. ipod doesnt work still making the noise when in aux mode

The term "engine noise" refers to when alternator noise is induced thru the audio system, most comon when an amplifier is used, sounds like that is what is going on. When usung a outside audio source, like a Ipod or MP3 player, you dont want to use the head units AUX input. Bypass the head unit and take the audio output DIRECTLY from the Ipod headphone jack (use 3.5mm to RCA) into the amplifier. If the noise is no longer induced, you can point to the head unit, RCAs, or a ground loop in the system.

Hope that all makes sense, sometimes I take for granted the 20+ years of install experience and think everyone knows the car audio lingo......

Which side of car is are you running the RCAs?

Alt. noise will sound kind of like a siren/whistle that changes pitch as you increase RPM it will get louder when you "load up" the alt., [turn on things in the car] head lights, high beams, rear window defog, step on brake and blower motor and so on.

Engine or ign. noise is more of a ticking sound that increases in speed as RPM go up.

By your discription it sound like it is alt. noise and possibly something else, "static noise", alt. noise will sound like a siren/whistle at all RPM, just the pitch will change.

Although a "Ground Loop Isolator" may get rid of the noise, it is better to fix the problem that is causing the noise, the "GLI" will do nothing at all for SQ, [sound quality] it is a band-aid at best.94
