I'm having trouble finding any hatches in my area that fit my criteria. I've driven a few that ran like hell and was disappointed. I need a car here in the next month or so that will be fit to drive to AZ. What I'm looking for is a 99-00 dx with under or at 100k miles. Just down the road from me is a clean, white 2000 cx with I think 140k. I stopped to see it and turned away when He told me the miles. Should I go drive it? I was thinking if it runs great I should get it. He wants 4000 for it but I think I could talk him down. Thanks guys.
Oh yeah, and I have 6k to play with. So if I do get it and it runs fine, I could swap it down the road? maybe just get a newer d-series to be safe.

I would take it for a spin and if it runs good and all offer him like 3k, mabe a little more. I meen even at 140k its not THAT outragus. I bought my 99 dx hatch with 102k and it runs great...couldnt be happier
about the swap....you can get d16y7's for about 500 w/ tranny with less then 30k so that not a problem....but once you get to swaping the motor out ur going to want to swap somthing bigger in...

Well, maybe the guy was a courier. I'll go drive it here in the next hour or so. So i'll hit you guys back. when I do. I still want a few more opinions before I go. I do like the Idea of a cheapo d-series swap. Right not a B-series isnt in my budget and a d-series is plenty enough to get me in trouble. I'll swap in a b series in a few years I guess. The body appeared fine, interior looked clean. Lets just hope it drives like it's got low miles. Any tips on what I should look for? I have an idea.

A guy just offered me up one in another thread. 99 hatch with 90,000 miles. A/c and powersteering. He hasn't replied to my im's but he's online.

140k is fine on that car...I wouldn't even worry about swapping the motor, just do the timing belt, water pump, bleed the brakes, flush the radiator..might wanna run the stale gas out of it if it's been sitting...should be about all...
Make sure u have room left on the pads (that it can pass inspection and all) and just sit in the car and go over every button - make sure all the systems work... You don't wanna find the cigarette lighter doesn't work when you have a flat and don't have a spare and your cell phone battery's dead on the side of a highway. Happend to me once...ever since then I made sure my cell is always charged b4 I left the house and that I have a cell charger in the car just in case O.O..
Just make sure there's nothing wrong with it really...make sure the tires are good...Hondas in general are fine for long trips...not my cup of tea per-se but they continue to rank high on consumer reports so somebody must be buying 'em.

Yeah, i'm talking to him now. The one I went to drive has been sold. My heart isn't broken but I wish I had at least driven it.
