Buying a 99 hatch this weekend. Am I getting a good deal?
I found a black 99 Dx Hatch 5spd all stock. It has 160,000 miles and is really clean. I talked them down to $4,000. The NADA on the car is $4500 but I'm just wondering, do you think $4000 is still too high? Here's some pics

I would look around a bit more esp. if you want to do some mods. I have seen some nice clean jdm stlye cars on craigslist for around the same money maybe just a bit more.

Depending how clean it is, I think $3500 would be good.
Edit: didn't realize it was 160k miles not km. In that case no more than $3000 i'd say.

I just bought a 2000 model with 140,000 miles on it from a friend for $2,200. I know that is an unusual deal but $4,000 seems high to me as well.

No problems with the car? How about rust? I think $3500 is a fair price but if in your area they go higher and are hard to find and this car has no problems then go for it!

Did someone actually check the KBB value... Im having a hard time to believe that an 11 year old base model civic with 160k is worth $4500...
I bought my 96 DX coupe with 190k for $1200

the price can also depend on the area and if hondas are much sought after in that area. but imho i would not pay more than 3k for that with 160k on the clock

Thank you all for your opinions. I found this car off craigslist and yes ek hatches are near impossible to find around my area. Hondas are kinda expensive around here. I bought a 96 dx hatch with 240k on it for $3200 back in November, which I thought was too high but like I said they're impossible to find around here. The 99 has no rust and the carfax show no wrecks. It's really clean, nothing mechanically wrong with it and no flaws inside.

I say get it at $3500 and go for it! Some people think that just because their "sister's friend's brother's Uncle's nephew's friend" found a clean Civic with 12,000 original miles in Excellent condition for $500, that everyone else can get the same deal no matter where you are located.

imo, i would say that still seems high. If you shop around a bit more, i think you could find a better deal. there are always deals out there, it may just mean waiting for another week or two.
Two years ago i bought a 1996 hatch with 130 thousand miles for $1500, and that was two years ago.
Last year, i bought a 2000 model civic Si coupe (em1) with only 100K for $4500
I say shop around a bit more, or pay less for that car you are looking at
