iacv code...checked everything....need help!!
b18b1 in 97 lx. i had the motor in the car for about a year with no problems. then...one day i hydro locked, and bent a rod. so anyway, rebuilt the motor with many new oem parts. new rings, piston, rod, bearing. got it all back to normal, and now it won't idle. cel comes on imediately, 1508. checked the iacv, iacv plug, wires, ecu. even swapped ecu from a 96 ls. the car will run, but until it gets warmed up a little bit, it will stall if i get off the gas. the warmer the engine gets the higher the idle. when i keep the throttle steady, it chugs. this is really annoying when driving. i double checked the tps, and map plugs...i made that mistake the first time. i cleaned the iacv, even tried a new one with no change. i've done all the checks in the manual, and i need some experienced help. thanks in advance.
It can be three things...
IACV sensor
Wiring
ECU
It definitely sounds like a wiring problem, either a break in the wire or a voltage problem..
Grab a digital multimeter. Disconnect the IACV. Put the ignitioin to the ON position and measure voltage between the body ground and the IACV connector positive (should be a Yel/Blk wire).
If there is no voltage, then you'll have to repair the wire between the main relay and the IACV.
If there IS voltage, then disconnect the A connector. Put the ignition to the ON position, and see if there is voltage between the body ground and the A12 pinout.
If there isn't any voltage, then you need to repair the wire between the A12 pinout and IACV.
If there IS voltage, then plug the A connector back to the ECU. And jump pinouts A12 and A10 with a jumper wire or metal paperclip. It should click. If it doesn't click, replace the IACV. If it DOES click, try another ECU..
That should solve your problem..

i figured it out. when i first did the swap, i had to extend a couple of wires, the iacv plug was one of them. i used a different color wire than the black/blue, and yellow/black. i looked farther down the harness and saw the color wire i was looking for. i had the bastard plugged in the iat switch, so the iat was plugged in the iacv. yeah, i know i'm a douchbag. hope this helps someone.
thanks again poison.
