In the past 4 months i have gone throgh 2 catalytic converters, and are on my 3rd. I have a b18b, with intake header and exhaust. The guy at the muffler shop said he pulled out a large ball of catalyst, when i got the new one put on....Anybody knwo why this is happening???

are you running rich or lean?
Have you overfilled your oil lately?

 

Running too lean? Heating it up too much??

Are those your only mods?

 

Yea, those are the only engine mods I have, and I am using all stock fuel and igniton settings. And I dont change my oil, so......It should be ok.

Sounds like you are having a fuel problem.

What cat are you using? Some generic crap?

What do your plugs tell you? This is a good indication if there is a problem.

 

Yup, sounds like a fuel problem. More then likely you are running rich.......happen to me too. MY 02 sensor went bad, causing the car to run rich.............

 

definatly agree with the above. Check a/f and plugs. Replacing the cat with a test pipe might be a quick fix, but it's not the solution to your problem. When you get the problem sorted out, buy a nice Carsound or Random Tech cat to replace it with.... might as well get a high flow if you're gonna get another. good luckl

Usually 92 or 89.
