Default pcv question

I've searched but have not gotten a answer to my question. I have an h22 in a dc2 and was wanting to get rid of the pcv system. I blocked off the hole in the intake manifold, replaced the pcv valve with a barbed fitting and ran that to a catchcan with steel wool inside(ghetto baffled), and put a breather filter on the other end of the catch can. Would this setup be ok, being more effective than the factory system? reason being was i wanted to free up all that pressure in the crankcase and not nasty up the inside of the intake manifold.

Does the pcv system not help your engine and your gas mileage?

Off topic: Did the b18b come with pcv systems?

yes all b series and d came with it. Its a one way check valve to relieve pressure under vaccum. I just wanted to relieve these pressures a lot faster and all the time and for a few bucks i did it.

PCV shouldn't be that much of a concern to you since you aren't boosted, but you can still have a more effective PCV system.

The way you have it will work, but it isn't the most effective way to eliminate excessive crankcase pressure. Check out these threads on how to do it correctly (if you want to), but otherwise, what you have now is more than sufficient.
