Default catch cans

what is the difference between a catch can that has a filter (endyn kit) and one that does not (Greddy/Weapon R/MFactory etc.)

is the PCV system supposed to vent to the atmosphere? isn't the PCV system supposed to be under vacuum?

can someone explain this to me.

Default Re: catch cans (VspecSiR)

The PCV system has to have 2 connections. One to atmosphere (actually inside air intake duct) and one to manifold vacuum.

The connection to manifold has the very restrictive PCV valve, and draws air out of the crankcase.

The connection to the intake is wide open, so it can supply what's needed to make up for the air that's sucked out thru the PCV valve. This connection has much less resistance than the PCV valve so the crankcase stays pretty close to atmospheric pressure.
