hi everyone
to start it off i drive a 1999 civic ex

im in the process of installin my gf210's but i ran into a problem with one of the bolts, its 14mm and its on the suspension fork, the fork that holds the strut. basically i used a breaker bar to break it, and it literally bROKE lol. the head broke off but the rest of the bolt is still seized.

basically im wondering what my alternatives are?

are there any other way of removin the strut/spring assmembly while keepin the fork in tact? other than that i have no clue how i'm suppose to get this bolt out. i have 3 of my other springs installed already.. and this last bolt is holding me back!

bolt out, easy out, etc... etc...

it happens alot to old civics... u should have read lots of threads about this happening to lots of other h-t members... and been prepared with new replacement bolts and some anti-seize...

imo.. remove all suspension components and replace bushings with new ones or poly ones...

if installing poly ones.. make sure u drill and tap in some grease zerks so u can relube the poly bushings once a year

 

if you can't do it yourself just pop the axle out and remove the fork and strut all together and take it to a shop

or b, pop the axle remove it all in one piece, buy new fork from junkyard or a friend (i have three or four forks in my garage)

im thiknin of removin the axle, hopefully thatll allow me to pull out the assembly. thanks for the ideas guys... keep them cominG!

 

I don't know that you need to take the axle out. If you pop the ball joint on the upper control arm, you MIGHT be able to drop the LCA, hub and axle low enough to get the shock assembly out.

 

Save the hassel for another day, go to the junkie and get another fork!

 

yeah so today i was messin with it some more, noticed half the bolt broke off, so the fork DOES come off.. i guess i will be headin to the junkie tomorro and pickin up a new fork, r driver and passenger side the same or are they different, also what years civic should i be looking for? 96-00?

 

if a fork thats forked up on the left side get it for the left side. If its for the right get it for the right side. and the fork look for a 96-00
