Default speedometer bouncing around

speedometers bouncing all over the place. would changing the VSS fix the problem? or could there be a short somewhere? also will having a bad VSS turn the CEL on?

mine did this, and CLEANING IT HELPED

so before you go and buy a new one or toss yours out clean it.

take it off the tranny (2 12 mm bolts i think)

then take it inside and take that bitch apart.

its gonna have some grease in it, but its gonna be all nasty and sticky.

clean that **** off and regrease it.

then clean the electrical connecters and throw some dielectric grease on them

install and test.
