Default just replaced VSS, and speedometer still doesn't work

i just replaced my VSS in my '97 civic today with a BRAND NEW speed sensor, and the speedometer still doesn't work, and i'm still throwing a CEL for the VSS. I ordered a VSS for a '97 DX, but i have a B16A2 transmission....i even took the gear off of the one i took out and put it in the new one, and it still doesn't work.

do i need to order a VSS for a B series engine? i thought they were all interchangeable.

i just replaced the gauge cluster as well because i thought it was just a problem with the gauge cluster.

but it still didn't work.

my next thought would be not getting power to the wiring harness.....anyone have any ideas?

lol, get the one for ur tranny - if it comes to it, you may have to do a little wiring matching plug wires to the harness. Don't know why another VSS would work (like the VSS from a d-series) - I don't think they're interchangable. What motor are you running?

Yes - As far as I know the VSS is for the tranny...As far as the harness goes, obviously if it doesn't plug in then you'll have to wire it...but look at what you have now. If your VSS was wired up you'll have to re-wire it, if it was plugged in then you can probably just buy it and plug it in. I'm not sure if it'll plug into the harness but if it doesn't it's not too hard to hardwire it to theharness.
