Default EASY timing question

What would give me more power on my stock engine? 16btdc or 18btdc? Or should I just go in the middle there and hit 17 Thanks guys!

Stock is 16 + or - 2,
so 14, 15, 16 17, 18 all will be fine and within spec.

advancing it is bad for your engine. advancing it +1 or +2 isnt pushing it too far.. but i would be cautious. run higher octane gas if you do that.

GSR already requires premium gasoline, so advancing the timing on a healthy motor is a win-win scenario.

Advancing the timing isn't bad for the engine as long as you arent detonating, by running higher octane fuel.

I had one of my brother-n-law's friend advance my timing to 18.. All three of them said that it would be good for the GSR as long as I run 93oct gas. But do as you wish.. I only did it because their friend says that it was good for the car. But what does he know??.. He's only got a 13sec LS/VTEC ALL Motor in a 2nd Gen Teg... (That's a good enough reason for me!)

I've tried 17 18 and 19.They all feel the same to me but it does feel better and has more mid range tq,it was at 14.5.No problems i run sunoco 94 at al times, but it gave the car well needed mid and low range tq.I've been running at 17 for about a month.

Advance the timing as far as it will go until it detonates, you will be surprised how far it goes especially with only simple bolt-ons

3-5 HP by advancing timing usually.

Great instructions, you WILL need a timing gun.

Go ahead and set it at 18deg. I've been running at 18deg for 2.5years now. It's within spec and you should have no problems.
