Default Notchy shifting gearbox in stock 00 ITR.

For the last couple of months my gearbox has been inconsistently notchy when putting the shifter in gear, especially 1st and 2nd gears. However, at other times it goes into gear smooth as silk. Other times i have to use a lot of effort while other times I get that "crunch" feeling when putting it in gear. I took it to Acura for the techs there to check it out, and I wasn't able to fully reproduce the problem for them - they said this was normal and that he didn't see anything wrong with it. This appears to be more of a problem when shifting at low RPMS, but I still can't reproduce it consistently. When the problem does occur, the "notchy-ness" dissappears if I go in the gear several times while I have the clutch pressed - if I depress and press the clutch, the notchyness returns. Anyone have any experience with this or know what might be wrong? Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Steve

Have you flushed the MTF?

Yep, did it at 30k... I was thinking about trying it again.

Sounds like the infamous broken clutch disc that has plagued the integra since the early 90s to me.

Are you moving while trying to put it in first and second gear? It does have a lock out when your moving.

This happens even at a dead stop and I'm just just shifting to any of the gears with the clutch pressed. But it goes away if I put it in the same gear twice with the clutch pressed. This really takes away from the joy of shifting!

By lock out you mean it won't let you shove it into first while going right?

not in second, it doesn't.

did you have your clutch slave and master cylinders checked out? how about having them flushed and bled? incomplete release due to air in the lines or a leaking seal may cause intermitent problems with it not wanting to go into gear.

Mine does the same thing, especially when it's not warmed up and it's cold outside.

I've got the same problem too. My clutch is on it's last legs, so I was thinking that was the problem. I'll hopefully be replacing it in the next month or two and will report back if it solved the problem.

In the meantime, anyone else?

Although not an ITR, mine has a problem as well.
I am on 50059 miles now, just had the throwout bearing and squeakiness replaced, and the MTF was replaced at 30k. I dunno what could be the problem.

-Aoib0t, who doesn't know what it is either.
