Help!!!! Detonation
I ran my car at the track last weekend without the toda b's and i just straight detonated.
what can be the cause of this problem?
i'm still running 270 injectors and the feul pressure is at about 40 psi.
i even reprogrammed the v-afc to runa little richer and still detonation
i turned up the feul pressure to 40 psi ad it has run a little bit better
only detonating after about 7500 rpm or so.
could it be my o2 sensor?
i know its detonation because i pulled out the plugs at the track
and they were grayish very grayish and white
i am running denso iridium plugs with the blaster coil
any help will be helpful

Fuel pressure to 40psi?? Isnt stock setting 42psi?? and you have bigger injectors, they are probally not getting enough fuel.. try to raise fuel pressure to like 45psi... and your ignition timing try retarding it..

Cams have nothing to do with compression ratio....
If your O2 took a **** then you would have a check engine like.. also the ecu will rich your mixture if you have a fouled O2. If youre running a OBDII computer it'll show a O2 code along with a mixture too rich code.
my timing is at about 2 degrees retarded.
as for feul pressure this is the first time i really
raised it because i had no problems before.
not til at the track. but i'll be working on it tomorrow
thanks guys i will be updating sometime this weekend

Do the iridium plugs actually help that much? I'm a fan of NGK OEM plugs, maybe a range colder than stock. 9 out of 10 times that solves problems of pinging/knocking. I would also run some combustion chamber cleaner through your motor to get rid of any possible carbon deposits on the pistons. Carbon can always promote detonation.
If that doesn't fix it, I would check your timing from the distributor, and zero your VAFC out so it runs stock a/f ratio. If it still seems like it's detonating, it could be bad gas, or some kind of igniton problem.

Really they don't? I dunno...i just thought that since toda spec b's have more lift, your total compression will be reduced. The valve will open more, and you will lose more compression. Or is that called static compression? I have no idea, but that is one of the reasons why you need high compression for agressive cams such as the toda B's, to make up for the loss.
