Default Exhaust rattle!

This has been bothering me for awhile now. At EXACTLY 3000 rpm, there is this annoying rattle from my cat\downpipe area. I checked it out, and it looks like the springs that hold the downpipe to the cat are rattling. I shimmed both with a washer, but it still does it. Its not because thier too loose, because I tightened the hell out of them.

I took both heat shields off. And I cant get the damn cat off, its rusted on. I broke a craftsman wrench trying to get it off, no joke.

Yeah just pick up a new cat. I had a mysterious rattling noise for like 2 weeks.. looked all over. Was just the inside of the cat shaking around. Exhaust gases are crazy... and can do stuff like only make noise at certain RPMs and frequencies... weird stuff. I'm w/ 1990si though =]

If it's just the bolts that are rusted, wait until the exhaust is completely cool and hit the bolts with liberal amounts of Liquid Wrench. Let it sit for a few hours or over night, put a box end wrench on, and hit the wrench with a rubber mallet. I couldn't get my bolts to budge either but that did the trick.
