terrible incabing fuel smell
Hey guys, thought you would help me with this
So i have a really bad fuel smell coming from somewhere, i have checked the fuel tank hole (under the rear trim) and its not that..
what else could it be? it seems to disappear a lil when i close the windows so im guessing its coming from outside and blowing in??? any help would be very appreciated as this has been going on for a month and i get near high everyday on the way to work.
thanks
Ohh and it's in my 88 crx

havent installed a new pump, put a new filter on though and it's not coming from there. Checked all the lines and they are perfect.
I heard i might have a leaking injector? anyone else had this problem?

did you check it while the key was on? did you have this problem prior to changing the filter? if it happened after changing the filter, then one of the lines are loose.

I don't see a problem...

I had this same problem. You more than likely have a fuel line rusted through back at the fuel tank. It's probably the hardline that you have back there, that's where mine was. It's right behind the rear d/s wheel. I guaruntee you that's what it is. Which means, it splatters on the exhaust while driving which can make the smell even more intense not to mention that it's soaking that whole area under your car. It's probably already eaten away some of your underlining as well. That is also why you leaked gas on your pants. The way the gas pump knows to stop pumping is when it no longer has air in the tank. When you have a leak (even a small drip) it can cause enough air to get into the lines and take to cause the gas pump not to stop. This can also cause problems with starting the car if you haven't driven it for a little while or even while it's running because you'll conitnue to get air in your fuel lines. Check the fuel lines back behind the d/s wheel, I'm positive that's your problem. I just cut my hardline out and replaced it with regular fuel injection hose, a few metal tubes to join the soft lines and some hose clamps.

See my above explanation. Yours is probably a smaller leak but increases in intensity as you accelerate because the volume of fuel being pumped increases.

You just go to Honda spare parts and ask for New Injector seals, while i was doing mine i took the injectors out and gave them a good clean and put all fresh seal in there. I'ts a DIY job....
Ohh and their cheap, i got them super cheap

i was only getting 300km's a tank, so i was using a buttload more petrol as i should have been, i didnt notice though i was too high from the fumes to worry about anything haha
If your terms, if you notice that your using to much gas then you should get that checked out, simply because your car smells funky and your wasting your money filling it up every second day
Hope that helps
