Alright I tried searching and I think that it might either be the coil or the igniter that is bad on my car. Heres the problem. My car wouldn't start up so I tested the distributor by putting the first spark plug wire to the ground on my valve cover. I had my friend crank the car and I saw no spark. I accidentally touched my valve cover and felt a very weak shock. I took off the distributor and the cap. This is the first time I've ever messed the the distributor so I'm kind of lost. Where is the coil and where is the igniter? I see a big black plastic piece that is covering the whole inside of the distributor so I can't really get inside the distributor. Is there a way to take that off? I really need help because this is driving me crazy.

 

When your checking for spark, pull a plug out and stick it in the end of the sprark plug wire. Then ground it and see if it sparks.

To see the coil or ignitor, you need to remove the rotor first. Then the black cover comes off.

The coil is a black box with a little tower sticking out of it.

The iginitor is a slender piece that has 4 or 5 wires plugged onto it.
