OverHeating Issue due to a water leak?
I have a 93 civic si with stock everything. I recently changed the radiator to fluidyne radiator. I already had an overheating issue before i changed it to fluidyne. I would check the radiator every so often and found that it always empty or have a little bit of fluid left.
The overfull reservior would often be empty. I already changed the themostat with new gasket. I check all the pipes and made sure that there was no cracks or leaks. I even started the car for 30 mins to see if it may be leaking from anywhere. No signs that i can see with the eye. The fan turns on when it gets a bit hot. I bled the system to make sure there was no trapped air in there.
The only reason why i think the car would overheats is when there is insufficient coolant/water in it. Other than that the car would not overheat. I'm totally confused and not sure what the problem may be. I think there could be a possible chance that there may be a leak coming from the water pump. (Not sure yet, just a thought)

I 2nd that.
The headgasket on the motor I just took out of my car was shot to hell. It was so bad that I couldn't see water in the radiator after only 15 seconds of filling it to the top.
edit: On the bright side a headgasket is farily simple to fix on a D series. Make sure to have your head leveled before you put it back on.

no white smoke at all. car runs fine. theres no milky white residue in the oil or vice versa. no bubbles coming from the radiator. So i doubt it? Water needs to be refilled after couple of days.
That sounds like what happened to my car.
How fast does it overheat?
Mine would overheat within 5 minutes of driving, granted mine was a boosted D16.
I never actually figured out what my problem was. I thought it was a cracked sleeve, but the sleeves were fine when I pulled the head, though there was a LOT of burnt oil all over the place.

no my z6 is completely stock. no mods at all. It would overheat because its was low on coolant. But it wouldnt overheat if theres plenty of coolant there. I cant seem to figure where the leak is coming from. I really dont think its the headgasket because it doesnt have the signs of a bad headgasket. normal driving doesnt overheats the car. like i said before it only overheats when theres not enough of coolant in the radiator.

My friend and i had a very similair problem on his b7. There was a small coolant/water leak as u suggested. Check the intake manifold and make sure the bolts are all tightened down because you can lose coolant if even one bolt is lose being it be the correct be the correct bolt. However a coolent leak is very possible because if losing pressure the block and head are not being properly cooled.

yep. thats what it is.. especially since we already know that its a Dseries..

Like said, most likely a coolant leak.
check for white residue on your motor, piping all over, a coolant leak can sometimes only pop up when your pushing the car hard and the pressure builds so when your cruising, it may not show up.
If your HG was that bad that your loosing all your coolant that quick, you would have a James Bond smokescreen behind you all the time.
Check for wetness around your engine bay and ground after a drive.

have you pressure tested the system? that's the easiest way to see if you have a leak in your cooling system. if it is draining after only a couple days.. that would be a pretty serious leak. you would, at LEAST see a puddle under your car after you park it. you said no air bubbles coming throught the radiator spout while idling... and no residue on the radiator or oil fill caps. hm..
i'd pressure test the system and do a leakdown on the cylinders. after doing those, you HAVE to find something!

i pressure tested my system. i found a TINY leak on the IACV. you never know.

I had the same problem and it was on the same engine... check the water pump. I replaced it and now I don't have any issues.
