2000 ex weired noise question, only when clutch is out, no noise when clutch is pressed in?
hey guys, i have a 2000 ex its makeing a raddling noise when pulled thru 1st and 2nd gear, below 3k RPM's when i push the clutch in the noise goes away. i can idle the car and with the clutch in no raddle, with it out, and the car in nutral it will raddle, sounds the the tranny somwhere, hard to pin point.

Not a thorough inspection to find cracks. You can tell if it's loose though. I highly doubt it's loose if it's never been apart from the block.

Well my guess would be the heat sheilds due to the exhaust moving when the engine is actually "running" per say. But when you have the clutch in its not causing your exhaust to rattle due to the very low airflow through your pipes.. Id say before going and paying just take a quick look at the sheilds see if they are loose if so tighten them.. Than see if the rattling persists if it does have someone take a look at it for ya
I always confuse input shaft and throwout. I think it's throwout when the clutch is not engaged... but i may be wrong.
Anyways, local shops around her wanted $600+ to fix it. Yes you can drive on it, but you can also pick up a decent ex tranny for $300 and replace it with a helms. Presto, transmission fixed and betterer.
