Default Trunk Relay for '94 Teg

I just got a Viper 5000 installed in my car but Im not so sure that these kids know what they are talking about. They told me that my trunk relay to the dome light was broken. Therefore the alarm will not go off when the hatch is opened. I have tested this and its true that the alarm does not go off if I manually unluck the hatch and open it, which is complete bullshit cuz a thief can just jack my **** that way. So my question is...Do '94 2dr integras have a relay in the hatch that turns on the domelight when it is opened? Or do they need to install a pin of some sort?

Thanks

When I open the hatch of my 00 gsr, the dome light does NOT turn on. The trunk light in the side of the trunk does though. I don't know if Honda uses a relay or not, but if you want to trip the alarm on opening the trunk, you'll have to either splice off the trunk light wire, or add a pin.

Thanks for pointing that out, never noticed it. So the install place incorrectly told me that my trunk relay (or whatever) is broke. They could have easily used that trunk light for the alarm. Right? Its Audio Express, and if I had know that their install staff is as bad as Best Buy I wouldnt have used them.

Anyone else use a Viper system with their integras? I have a couple questions about sensors.

yep go ahead and shoot some questions, The trunk does not light the dome light if you open the trunk. There on two different lines. You can find the trunk wire in the drivers kick pannel. If you are going to hook up the trunk tag it to the blue wire on your alarm brain. That is the instant trigger wire. If you tag it to the door wire which is green your going to need to isolate it with a diode or when you open the door it will light up the trunk icon on your dash and vice versa.

Well I'm trying to figure out what I need to tell these guys to do to my car when I go back to their shop. For one they need to set up the trunk because that's ridiculous. The second thing they need to do is set up domelight supervision because they didn't even attempt to install it or even ask me if I wanted it. As for sensors, I am pretty sure that all they installed were shock sensors. When I go in I plan on asking them how many they installed and where they put them. Right now I have the sensitivity cranked up to max so that I could get the warning chirps when I knock on the side windows. It seems like the rear of the car is really bad at sensing the shocks. In your experience where are the best places to put shock sensors? In addition, what other types of sensors are beneficial? The owners manual to the Viper 5000 talks about such ones as: tilt, ultrasonic, glass breakage, field disturbance (invisibeam?). Should I expect them to install some sort of a hood trigger? (Pin or mercury switch?)

Thanks for your help. It just seems like a $500 install should be more than just a bare minimum setup so I plan on giving them some ****, but Id also like to feel like I know what I'm talking about.

Thanks so much!

After doing some more investigation I have found that their placement of the brain is ridiculous. I can arm the car, then open the door (alarm goes off) then reach under steering column and unplug the brain, thus disabling the siren and I can start the car. Where should I tell them to move the brain? Also is it dumb to have the siren sitting right on the edge of the engine compartment, cant then just snip the wires? What do you think about those piezo sirens?

First here is a tech sheet that is similar to the one they used for your car. http://www.the12volt.com/insta...Alarm
See the wire that says trunk, Its green. Most shops charge extra to have this done. But its only one wire. I throw it in sometimes for free. Depending on the customer. There is no relay involved.

Now for the domelight supervision. That require a relay. Some shops charge extra for this because the relay does not come with it. And the wire only supplies 200mah of ground. So it can not be used to trigger the light directly.

Next the shock sencer should be mounted to the steering column. It works best there. If your not get enough coverage for the back just add one more. Labor might be alittle more because of the work. Yea your install sounds pertty shitty. I would take it back and talk to the store manger. Whats the use of a alarm if you can do what you just did.
