Do it! I wouldn't reccommend revving the type r cams past the stock rev limiter though with your stock valvetrain.

I wouldnt recomend switching to CTR cams unless u are planning on changing the valve springs also... U need Type R springs

Thats funny, I've installed MANY type r cams into stock B16's with fantastic results each time. Like I said above, stock rev limiter, you're cool.

i've put in two sets in stock b-series motors with no problems, but i probably wouldn't do so on the older b16's with single valve springs on one side.

Would you use itr retainers with itr valve springs? Or could you use the b16a one's?
(retainers)?

Very true, I take mine out to 8500 though because I don't care about it

I have another reason too but rather not remind myself of that

But wouldnt u want to atleast have the stock valvetrain for these cams, or ur saying u dont need em...... Honda just felt like putting them in for no apparent reason??
Anyways to the person who started the thread.... do it right!!! Dont do it the half *** way (Hacks!!), so at least this way u can have piece of mind, and u dont have to worry about hurting the motor.

If you don't turn extra high you'll be ok.

im thinkin the ONLY reason i would need a bigger valvetrain is when im reving past 8,200 (which i will not) i have a stock oem del sol w/ a obd1 b16 straight from the factory.

yeah that would be great. i think with my b16 tranny and a clutch flywheel and a good tune it should run very strong. not a big b16 fan but they are reliable as hell though
