Default DOHC VTEC Del Sol 1100 to good to be true?

I found a Del Sol for a 1100 with a bad clutch master cylinder. Everything else on the car seems fine no major body damage, nothing missing and all stock. The guy says the car wont start or shift because of the bad clutch master cylinder, but he assures me that the motor is fine. Any comments or opinion would be of great help. Thnx.

sounds too good to be true. atleast compression test the engine and have a mechanic look it over.

I was going to buy a Del Sol CHASSIS for $1200. I'd go for it after a history report.

I just thought of something shouldn't you be able to start even if the clutch master cylinder was bad. I think as long as the clutch is pressed the car should start.

But if the clutch master cylinder isn't working.. the clutch can't be disengaged... thus you can't start the engine.... unless you start it in neutral ??

The switch is on the pedal, not in the clutch. If the transmission is in neutral and the clutch pedal is pressed in the car should start fine.

Agreed, it is just an electrical switch on the pedal itself. If it won't start in neutral with the pedal pressed down and the guy says it is because of the cylinder he is full of crap and I wouldn't buy a thing from him.

Well ****, anything's possible, I saw a 9 second eclipse on sale for ebay for like 3k w/ lambo doors, body kit, the works

his son got killed in iraq and he couldn't bare to look at the car...so ****, anything's possible

I've seen tons of cheap deals when pple need to move or need the $ fast, it's surprising, I rather sit around and wait for deals like those to pop up then to shop...that's what I'm doing now...waiting for the right deal on a honda engine, somebody'll get desperate and want to sell something, I know it, it's a matter of deductive logic... Most pple have financial issues at one point or another...(or all)

though like they said, it wouldn't "not" start b/c of a broken MC, the switch'd still be pressed down when u step on the clutch...

see if it's something else...but even if it's something more, a del sol for 1100 is still worth it, just do a carfax to see if it was totalled recently or something like that...fire or something...'cause even just for a shell that's nice, even if u have to swap in a new engine that's nice, y'kno?
