thinking of getting a motor
ok....im new on this site and ill admit i dont know **** about motors haha but i have a 99 Civic EX SOHC VTEC and i want to swap it out, i was thinking either a GSR or H22 but i really dont know which would be better some people say H22 because its more power and less expensive but toher say a GSR would be better i just want some opinions on what i should do it would help alot

GSR is about the same as the H22 when you count installation and parts...B series parts are cheaper than H series parts, the H22 requires custom fabrication, and I still haven't gotten a straigth answer if you can keep ur power steering if u swap an H22 into ur civic.. Presonally I would go with the GSR and if that's not enough, boost it, and yes, I am dead serious..
The H22 is good for drag racing IMO, it gives u tons of traction & w/ the torque it's nice, but I don't like the trade off of no power steering and the parts being more rare, the H2B setup, no PS, h22 block with a B16 tranny is a nice setup for drag racing or autocross, but it's a short system, wouldn't recommend it for daily driving, especially if you need to put on highway use
I'd probably take the GSR over the H22, you can keep all ur stuff, the GSR stuff is about the same price replacement wise as the H22, maybe a little more or less, obviously it's almost half a liter smaller, it's more of a "direct" swap, little hassel, the B series axles are readily available along with P72's, it's a lot easier of a swap..
I'm trying to decide if I should go for an NA GSR(maybe turbo?), H22, or D16Turbo come next summer O.o

b-series is cheaper then H-series in the end. parts/installation/fabricating is expencive for the H. have you ever considered boosting your current motor? you can piece together a lowboost application for like 600$ and be faster then a stock B or H
yeh i actually did think of boosting my current motor but i wasnt sure if i should do that or a swap it probably would be alot better on cost but wouldnt i have to build the internals first?

Only with a really good tune, and if u don't live out west in cali or something, finding good tuners is hard
Like personally I dunno of any...HEARD of one about 2 hrs from me, dunno nething about him though
I rather run 200whp on reinforced internals on a daily boost of say 10-12lbs, then if u need to up the ante to 25lbs, with a good tune and reifenorced internals, you won't blow anything, but u can put out more power O.o
'Tis the way I'd go anyways...

How about a K20a or k24 swap?
More potential, an ever growing aftermarket, and endless tuning oppritunities. 200 hp to start, Same JDM parts support as the H or B.
Just one mans thoughts.

yeah boosting a d-series can beat a b or h motor if it was stock! b series are cheaper and easier for installation and parts. you can boost a b-series for cheap as well.
