hey im new to this whole honda thing only been round it for a year i wanna do another swap for all motor or on spray but i dont kno wat motor to do ether gsr or h22 will u all please help me i dont kno wat motor to do if u could write me the down falls and the postive things and the reasons to od 1 motor and not the other will u all please help me thanks

im saying go wit hthe douce douce, i have a97' civic and imswaping a h22 in but my problem is which trany set up to go w/ but i think im just going with the h series trany for o and depending if im going all motor or turbo i might go h2b but they dont have a h2b kit for ej's so you have to fav a little.. good luck with w/e you decied

Id say GSR because of over all potential and sick vtec but more expensive then the h22 but the h22 should be alittle faster right away with all that torgue but your handling will be bad with all the wieght if you care

Sick VTEC eh?

From what I can gather, the GSR is more of a "direct swap" and the higher revving is a plus...but the H22 is a bit more powerful, but the idea of snapping axles and not as good handling urges me to tell you to stay away.

I'll say GSR...

Reason 1: More of a direct swap and is made to fit in the engine bay as opposed to the H22

Reason 2: I have a GSR in my hatchback and I'm biased.


OR...you can go H2B (H22 motor with a B-Series transmission)...which still doesn't fit quite right in the engine bay

A few things come to mind...


K-series swaps are expensive, not everybody can afford them.
K-series swaps are kinda hard to come by.

B-series if you aren't ballin'

b16s..for short gear ratios..
b18s...type R....or stock gsr...

and parts are all over the place...
most of the b series parts are interchangable...

you do know the b16 and type r trannies have the exact same gear ratios? just the type r tranny has standard lsd, not all b16's do, and supposively the differential on the b16 trannies doesnt hold up well at high power.

just got rid of my 99 civic with H22. the only thing you will like about the H in a civic is the torque. you will have more fun driving the car with a b-series. B- series have more aftermarket support than H. then comes ground clearance B-good, H-not bad, and K-sucks. if you daily drive then dont get a K, unless u like buying oil pans. like i said got rid of my H for a B. not baller enough for a K.

stock b16 i thought is different from a type R..
i thought type R got different final drive...
and the LSD...

is the civic type R the same with the integra type R????

m2a4 before i went to accord tranny for boosting.

h2b is sic. you can get the kit, but i would be universal beccause they dont make it for 96-00 civics because of the driver mount. you could do it you just have to mock everything up yourself. if you go h22 do it in a car where you could do h2b. go gs-r
