Default wipers won't shut off, what the????????????

so went to the dealer today to pick up some parts that i ordered, when i return to my car and start it up the damn wipers were on. i checked the switch and it was on the off position, i moved the switch around to see if it would trigger anything but it didn't. so i'm driving down the street like a moron (sunny day), i pull into the nearest part store shut the car off and check the fuse, the fuse is fine, so i pop the hood to see if there is any loose wires and nothing. get back into the car start it up and the wipers are off now, wtf?

has this happened to anyone? if so what was it? any info eally helps, trying to figure out, maybe my wiper motor is going bad?

My wipers don't work either. The motor went bad and I don't know how much a new one cost, prolly bread because they know you have to have wipers. But if everything else is fine, then its prolly the motor.

Even if the switch is turned off on the wiper stalk the entire stalk could be hanging down, which will also keep the wipers on. you know how you can pull down on the wiper switch/stalk and make the wipers wire until you let off and the entire stalk springs back into the normal position? A lot of the older Civics have the spring kind of wear out right there and the stalk hangs low enough to engage the wipers.

Easy/cheap fix?

Fold up some paper and jam it under the wiper switch/stalk until you can find a new switch if this happens to be your problem.

Haha yeah thanks for the props. I'm not on here nearly as much as I'd like to be because of work, band, wife, etc.
