EG aftermarket headunit problems, possibly overheating?
When I got the car it had a pioneer 4700 model I believe, worked great until it would be out in the sun/heat for awhile, then I'd lose the speakers, it would play a little bass and thats it. After it cooled off it'd play fine. So I bought a panasonic 8803U, got it installed, sounds great.... but seems like it does the exact same thing, only much faster. Am I having some kind of overheating problem? Is this a problem with the eg dash being too packed or something? I've only had this headunit 2 days. I installed it yesterday, sounded great in the garage, then I left the car. Someone came over to check it out and then he turned it up and it started cutting out. I left it, came back and took it out for a spin later on that night and everytime the bass hit or a went over a bump in the road the stereo cut out. It would play normally with the volume down VERY low. A little later than that, like midnight or later when it was cooler outside it played fantastic, not one problem. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

You need to check for any shorts in the speaker wire, Most of the time its from a bad speaker install. The speaker leads could be rubbing on the door and shorting out. Also make sure the ground on the headunit is propper, Most of the time you can get away with using the stock ground on a non-highpower headunit.

Fade the unit all the way to the rear, see if it still cuts out, if not, fade all the way to the front and see if it cuts out.
If it only cuts out when faded all the way to the front or back, leave it on the set that cuts it out and balance all the way left or right, if it only cuts out when on one side or the other, the side that cuts out is the shorted speaker, a common problem, [when installing in some Honda/Acuras] with some aftermarket speakers is the location of the speaker terminals, they can come in contact with the metal skin of the door, [shorting it out and shutting down the HUs internal amp], thank god for protection circuits.
