Do i have to drain the trans fluid when i change my axle
i searched and found this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=382416
and it says "Depending on tranny you might have to drain and fill the tranny."
and that was for a B series tranny, i have a D series.
so do i also have to drain it?

Changing passenger axle = drain
Changing driver axle = don't drain
EDIT: Wait D-series don't have halfshafts. I think you'll drain either axle you do.

you don't have to drain it, when you pull the axle out stuff a rag in there, when your ready with the new axle pull the rag out, and put the axle in. You will probably have to top it off, but no more than 1/4 of a quart, unless your a total assbag

yup he's right, the axle socket is slightly above the fill hole so if your car is level, you wont lose much anyways

You could jack the passenger side up higher than the driver side to allow fluid to go to that side and change that axle. Then raise the other side up a little higher and do other side.
That will keep most of your fluid inside tranny.
