what can you guys tell me about high compression with boost?
i have a VW1.8t and am thinking that when i build i may run 10:1, they are speced from the factory to have 9.3 or 9.5 to 1, but really most people who have checked have actually had closer to 8.5 or 9.0 to 1
what about 10.5 or 11 to 1?
i know the tune has to be spot on
and i haven't seen anyone burn up, melt or damage a 1.8t piston and i think the euro 20v pistons are 10.0 to 1.............also the turbo pistons have made 715 on an engine dyno and with stock pistons i could build my motor for around 600 bucks and it would be able to handle all the power my 50 trim could make
what do you guys think?
the reason i'm thinking about doing this is the off boost response and i could make more power at less boost
just an example a buddy of mine made 344 whp with a .48 50 trim but it took 22 psi

You hit it on the nail about tuning, at that high of compression (11.1:1) you have very little room, if at all, for error. I think the consensus with high compression pistons and boost is that they are not a good mixture.

john force is high comp supercharged v8 ..
its all on whats availalble to you ..yougotta break things down like even what gas is available ..if you can afford to run on race gas all day then go for it

well it would be 93 octane and it would be custom tuned by someone who can tune a stock VW ecu
so what do you guys think about 10:1 on a daily driver
