Default Problem with my tranny, Is the torque converter!

finish swaping a d16z6 in my 95 EX, but now the tranny is the problem, took it to a respecfull transmition shop in my area and the were charging near $1000 to fix the problem wich near 500 was for labor of taking the tranny out and in on the car. I told them that I will take the tranny out and bring to the shop for them to fix it so that It will save me some dollars, and the guy said for that I sell you the torque converter and you do it your self since thats the only thing wrong with the tranny. He's price for the torque converter was $300, I was wondering does anybody know a place that cells the torque converter cheaper, wheater is a store or on the web. thank you guys before hand. I need this as of yesterday, so that I can finish my car.

If your handy enough to drop the tranny yourself you should be able to change the torque converter. Im not too familiar with autos but im pretty sure it'll slide right off and you just place the other one right back on. pick up or download the helms and see

My friends is the manager at Advanse auto, and they don't carry torque converters, neither does NAPA, i just came from there. If Im not mistaken probably none of those chain auto parts carry it.

The reason that I took it to trans. shop is cuase when it comes to auto trannys I don't mess with that. Now that I know is the torque converter I have no problems doing that myself, I only mention that to them so that I know exactly what was the problem with the tranny. Now I know what the problem is, my new problem is finding that converter at a good price.

yeap, as soon as i put in any gear other than P or N, it makes a noise, as soon as i start moving it will make a whinning noise that goes with the rpm.

yeah, I know a few people that can give me a discount, but it'll still be insanely expensive from Honda. I'd just go to ebay, a junkyard, or here.
