Cleaning Engine Bay?
So I have a bad valve cover gasket, and it has blown oil for I dont know how long around the engine. It has mixed with dirt and made a hell of a mess. How can I clean this up? brake clean doesnt cut it, and Super Tech Engine Degreaser doesn't do much either. What about engine brite and a garden hose? What do I need to cover electrically and how do I do it? I will NOT use pressurized water, don't worry. I really want to clean up the bay and make it look pretty damn good.
what's wrong with pressurized water?
i like to spray purple power or simple green on the engine and go for a drive. Once at the carwash i disconnect the battery, remove my intake arm and put a bag over the tb, remove plug wires from cap and cover distributor with a bag. after 3-4 minutes of spraying pressurized water, my bay looks pretty damn good.

I was told it forces itself places it shouldn't be? (pressurized water) Anyone else out there got some tips? Thanks eda6, I will try the purple power.
Engine gunk remover and some pressurized water. Water can only go where you shoot it at, so aim carefully. Avoid sensors and your dizzy/alternator/IM/Fuse box. Work it in with a brush and what not. Don't expect it to come out 100% perfect. I use a garden hose, thats enough pressure for me.
