So yah...i think i burnt my valve cause as i was gunning the car on the freeway cause i was messing around with a mustang and in 5th gear around 7 grand i felt a lost of power. Didn't feel good to me so i backed off the gas and look back i was spitting alot of black smoke smelling like i just brew out some birthday candles. im thinking it's a burnt valve, if it is probably going to rebuild with ferreas. It's also idling pretty shitty and a huge lost of power on the low end cause it feels like one of the cyclinder is not getting firing at all.

 

You need to do a dry then a wet compression test, if bad then do a leak down test which a shop may have to do for you.

 

What are the differance between a wet and dry compression test?

 

I believe a dry compression test is just doing a compression test with the car at normal temperature. a Wet compression test is when you add like a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder to see if compression bumped up at all.

 

o ic.....well...i kinda figure out my problem b4 i did the compression then...seem to me that i have a supa blown headgasket from the amount of white smoke i am put out...

I can pretty much guarantee thats what it is. I had the same thing happen with my previous car, a 91 civic si. I was at about 75 mph when I felt a sudden loss of power and saw a huge cloud of smoke out the back and I freaked out. Come to find out I had a burnt valve and ended up selling it instead of rebuilding it. It was one of the saddest days of my life. (A moment of silence here would greatly be appreciated).

 

I had the same thing happen to be. But it wasnt a headgasket. It turned out to be I broke the piston and scratched the wall a little

 

Same thing happened to be, But it was a cracked piston. Luckly i can get it honed.

 

Get a tech to take a look at it asap. If you are sure you have bad valves it could cause a cylinder missfire which in turn will cost you more money for parts and repair down the line. I've seen it happen is all i'm saying.

Are you sure you had to rebuild? I'm assuming something else was screwed up as well. I burned a valve, and did a head swap with another LS head and was fine.

hahahahahahahahha so did you take a **** in your pants once you saw all that black smoke or got home on time?

 

i got home fast enough to take a ****...i could careless what had happen to my car at the time cause i knew something was FUCKED ALREADY...as long as i can get the car home that's all i care for. The reason why i can assum that it' smy headgasket is that it's not like i was near red line cause my redline is at 9. plus the car is spitting out HELLA white smoke...so that's usually a sign of a blown headgasket..

 

it can be, do a compression test and see what you can come up. in some occasion. white smoke mean piston ring? not really sure but yea. when headgasket is gone, usualy it get hot and over heat
