You definetly need a cap. What it's doing is taking the power from your battery so fast and so much of it, that your alternator cannot keep up with it causing your headlights to go dim like that. If you don't get a cap, your alternator will be worn out very quickly. The cap will be what your amp takes the power from and recharges much faster than your battery so it won't cause your lights to dim. Also i am located in Greenfield IN, just 20 minutes east of downtown Indy.
