Put a little grease on the bottom of the nut (not on the threads) and torque away. I'd even go a little higher than 220. I just usually tighten with my lug wrench (just about as hard as I can). Have had zero problems (on my ITR and S2k).

1)higher than 220? that's the way to go to kill the bearing/housing
2)lug wrench? that's 19mm for oem lug nuts and the axle nut is size 32mm
3)hand tighten? maybe with a very long cheatbar? but again, how will you know when to stop?

Wrong again buddy. Axle is 36mm.

1) Plenty of people on S2ki have taken it to 220+.
2) Ok, my mistake. It was with a ratchet and socket.
3) Why would you need a long cheater bar? What's the difference between using a torque wrench and a regular one (if they're the same length?)?? If you can't tighten the nut without a cheater bar, hit the gym a bit more.
When do I stop? Almost to the point when I can't turn anymore. Ask any of the OG ITR guys and S2k'ers. They'll tell you the same. Oh, I also don't torque down the lug nuts to the correct specs, either. My oil gets changed way before the recommended 7500 mile mark, my front license plate is chopped in half and most of the time, my hands aren't on the 10 and 2 on the steering wheel.
