doing an install on a viper 5000...

and i was wondering if the "factory disarm out (-)" is basically a "ground when disarmed"??

if it is, then i don't have to go and redo that wire

cause i just did all the wiring.. now just have to install the sirens, and hook up the brain.. and install the fuse to make the wire live....

if the "factory disarm out (-)" is not a "ground when disarmed" that means i have to take out the ground when armed, and hook it up to a relay... to invert it...

which is what i do not want to do...

 

What kind of car are you working on ?

 

their should be a description of each wire in the install manual, but yes it should give a short neg. pulse when you disarm. it might also give a pulse when other channels are used.

 

the manual doesn't say much, other than its also activated when channel 2 is activated...

All i know is that i can program the disarm wire to activate either with channel 2 or just when u disarm the alarm...

also that it is a neg/ground wire when activated....

it doesn't say if it pulses or not...

if it just comes down to it.. i guess i'm going to have to test the wire... when i finally make the alarm live...

 

yeah it should just be a pulse, it may have more options with a bitwriter. you'll probably need version 2.3 if you dont already have it.
