Default Just got back from the 1/4 (disappointment)...didn't hit 13's

BTW, I was in my hybrid...not my ITR.

Well, I definately tried. First off, we arrived at the track about 10:15am. It was pretty damn cold today (low 50's/high 40's). Cloudy...looked like it was going to rain all day.

I ended up putting too much gas in my tank and had to race with about 3/4 of a tank. Either way, I ran twice on my street tires with a best of 14.6 spinning all the way through first gear. I even tried launching @ 3k, slipping the clutch out and NO LUCK! I would just spin through 1st in my 195/50 Pirelli P7000's. Grrr...

Then I mounted up the slicks (15x8x22 Mickey Thompsons on BBS wheels I borrowed). I kept getting in the low 14's... I hit a 14.00 TWICE!!! I couldn't break into the 13's. It just kept getting colder all day long and traction was getting worse and worse. I will just have to live with being denied of my 13.99999999 timeslip for now. haha.

Also, I ran into a problem with my engine that might have affected me NOT getting into the 13's. Everytime I would get into 3rd gear, I would run it up to 7k RPM and then it was as if my engine would cut out from that point up to redline. WTF?! I wouldn't do it in 1st or 2nd gear...but in 3rd. Anyone have any suggestions as to what that could be?

I run drag radials at around 16 PSI. I launch between 2500-3500 I slip it for a hair then dump. For me, I have found this to be the best way to a good 60 FT. On drag radials I hit 2.0 after 2.0 in my 2000 Civic Hatchback.

Within a week or so, I'll have slicks mounted to 13" Volk TE37's, that should bring my 60FT's down a bit.

14.0 is pretty damn good. I'm sure you'll hit 13's in no time at all.

Jonas, I think they get more upset when people drag their R's rather than Civics. Us Civics are beneath them JK Guys...

14.0 So close Todd! 1.9 60' times are great though, I'm sure you'll be in the 13's soon. BTW, did you have your Spoon header installed yet? Your weather looks like mine unfortuantely and I'm heading out to an Auto-X event as we speak.

damn I have a set of Pirelli 7000's in my garage that I was going to mount next time I hit the track, I figure they are better than my stock tires. I ran 2.5 60's on stock tires, you don't think the Pirelli's are all that good for traction ?, I know they handle well, dunno about straightline grip though.

Sounds electrical. Check the plugs and distributor.

Almost there. A 1.8 60 would put you well into the 13s. Just a tad more and you're there

Not the car I am...at 130 lbs or so...

I may consider stripping down my GSR sometime for a drag event and get it weighing in at 2200-2230 lbs. w/o me in it.

i did a 13.9 once with a full strip (2230 lbs), slicks and like 163 WHP
