Just got back from the 1/4 (disappointment)...didn't hit 13's
Well, I definately tried. First off, we arrived at the track about 10:15am. It was pretty damn cold today (low 50's/high 40's). Cloudy...looked like it was going to rain all day.
I ended up putting too much gas in my tank and had to race with about 3/4 of a tank. Either way, I ran twice on my street tires with a best of 14.6 spinning all the way through first gear. I even tried launching @ 3k, slipping the clutch out and NO LUCK! I would just spin through 1st in my 195/50 Pirelli P7000's. Grrr...
Then I mounted up the slicks (15x8x22 Mickey Thompsons on BBS wheels I borrowed). I kept getting in the low 14's... I hit a 14.00 TWICE!!! I couldn't break into the 13's. It just kept getting colder all day long and traction was getting worse and worse. I will just have to live with being denied of my 13.99999999 timeslip for now. haha.
Also, I ran into a problem with my engine that might have affected me NOT getting into the 13's. Everytime I would get into 3rd gear, I would run it up to 7k RPM and then it was as if my engine would cut out from that point up to redline. WTF?! I wouldn't do it in 1st or 2nd gear...but in 3rd. Anyone have any suggestions as to what that could be?

Hey:
What kind of 60' time were you running with the slicks? What PSI?
Where did you shift? Do you have a shift light or aftermarket tach, or just the stock one?
What kind of mods do you have?
Thanks
Steve

sounds like u might have a VAFC and something caused ur car to go into safety mode. ive had this happen to me and it SUX bad. even if u dont have a VAFC its gotta b safety mode. problem is i never found out why it went into safety on my car. which motor is in there and what mods?

10 psi on 15x8x22 Mickey Thompson slicks. I was getting 1.9's all day.
I usually shift right at redline before the rev limiter kicks in. I do have an aftermarket tach and shiftlight (Autometer 5" CF series).

AEM CAI
Spoon header
Thermal exhaust (no cat)
GC's with ITR rear LCA's and ITR shocks
NO V-AFC. I do get a CEL once and awhile (it goes on then goes off), but that's for a bad O2 which shouldn't put me in safe mode.

my CEL does that too. i run codes once in a blue moon, usually its a CK? sensor. i forget. periodically goes off then comes on, i think its a band ground, cause i checked continuity.

Getting an O2 code will definately have a great effect on the performance of your car. Get it changed and you will run better, trust me..

Hey:
That sounds a whole lot like my car, except I don't have any slicks. I'll post my times if and when I ever get it to the track this year.
