it's a 96 hatchback with a b18c. which wire is the ignition (12+). and anything else i need to know.

 

red wire to ignition wire power when you turn key to on position
black wire ground
white wire goes to dimmer switch turns on light when you turn on lights
green wire goes to dist.

 

Is that all there is to installing a tach (monster tach and shift light on the way)

Sorry to bring this up again, but im kind of an idiot when it comes to electronics.. when you say the distributor, are you talking about some wire inside the dash, or run the wire all the way to the distributor on the engine?

 

if your car has a stock tach, you can tap off of that in the dash. if you look behind your gauge cluster, in the tach region, you should see 3 screws. those are for your tach (signal, +12v power, and ground). otherwise you can tap off of the distributor under the hood. its usually the blue wire that you want.
