Default Tires?

Hey guys, I was just wondering what everybody was using for tires. I am looking for an all-season performance type tire as this is my daily driver. The stock Michelin's are just garbage to me especially for the price. Using stock tire size. Any suggestions for dry/wet traction tire? **2006 RSX Type S 17" Rim**

Not sure if they have them in the available size since offhand I don't recall the oem rsx-s tire size but you might want to look into the Yokohama es100 or Kumho Ecsta MX.

I haven't run them personally but I've had friends who had the es100's on their daily drivers and loved them and also hear a lot of good about the ecsta mx. But the Kumhos are not recommended for freezing temp wet weather.

If I was in the market for a good tire which is relatively inexpensive and can be driven in the rain those would be my top choices.

i have been happy with my kuhmo ASX as far as an all-season goes. consider a 225-45-17. i like the ASX over the two sets of falken ziex 512 (a/s) i had previously. the ASX have definitely been quieter over the life compared to the 512 yet the sidewall is more responsive. they are also wearing better, too.

on my Type-S i am riding on stock 16" wheels with the Kuhmo Escta Mx's and let me be one to tell you. these ******* tires are great

they are stickkkkkkkkky.

they do great in the rain, even better in the dry summer season. my car has a few suspension mods and these tires and i can take hard *** 90 degree turns at high speeds

if you get these you will be VERY SATISFIED

If you need an all season tire look into toyo proxes 4 - ive never had them personally because I dont believe in all season tires, but a few friends of mine like them alot. If dry and wet handling are your main concern then check out the potenza so3. They're pricy but worth every penny. I had them for about 35k before I replaced them due to a nail. They were great on the street as well as the track, but they are USELESS in the snow.

I'm on my second set of bridgestone SO3s. They're expensive but I love them. Wet and dry traction are simply amazing and they do well at the autocrosses too. There's no snow here in Atlanta so I don't worry abou tthat.

I got a set of Dunlop SP Sport Maxx about a month ago, and I like 'em quite a lot. Not something I would use for autocross (have a set of used Azenis RT-215s for that), but certainly good daily driver tires with much better wet traction than either the stock Michelins or the Dunlop FM901s that they replaced.

Thanks for the info guys. I looked up the Kumho ASX on tirerack.com they are looking pretty good. Has anybody run the Pirelli Nero M&S?? Tirerack has them rated very highly and was curious.

i haven't tried them. the last time i had pirellis was about 4 years ago. check into their wear or longevity.

i would also look into the proxes 4. i have run t1-s and t1-r on my miata for the past three years, excellent build quality, ride, and handling characteristics.

G force like the one on the SRT-4 will let your car take off at or around 4k rpms no problem depending on the driver. and they look sick on the the stock rims
