Default EM1 tire selection

Anyone have any recommendations for em1 tires? I'm lookin for an all season tire around the $80 $90 region. Also do I want to stay with the stock size of 195-55-15?

Kumho ASX, SPT. I just picked up some Yoko S Drives for $375 out the door at Discount Tire. Seems decent so far, but they're more of a summer tire.

Then I'd say the Kumho ASX. All-season performance tire. But I strongly suggest getting a set of snow tires

On cars that came with 195/55-15, you can either stick with the stock size, or go with 205/50-15. The Kumho Ecsta ASX is a very good all-season tire, comes in both sizes, and is attractively priced ($70 at the Tire Rack). Another good all-season is the Goodyear Eagle GT, which comes in 195/55-15 and costs $84 less a $5 mail-in rebate.

Ecsta 711/712's were one of the worst tires I've ever had. They SUCKED in snow, too.

The g-Force Sport is a summer tire. The OP wants all-season tires so he can use them occasionally in snow, where summer tires won't grip well.

One of the worst tires EVER. AND it's a summer tire.

The Goodyear is a little better and costs a little more. Your choice.

If you want to see a side-by-side comparison test including both these tires, go to:

The tires you're considering and what you'll be using it for, no difference, except the 205/50's tend to be more expensive.

i have had numerous sets of Nitto NT450's on my EM1 and love them. but i have always run 205/45/16. discount tire has them fair priced. i actually switched to hankook's all season performance tires this time around, think they are the hankook k-106. didnt see them on discount tire though. i love both tires though

I was refering to the A/S which are all-seasons .

All except price are extremely minor, and price can go either way - some tires are more expensive in 195/55, and others more expensive in 205/50. The pros and cons are that 195/55-15 is closer in diameter to the stock size for cars that came with 195/55-15 (duh) or 185/65-14, while 205/50-15 is closer in diameter to the stock size for cars that came with 195/60-14, which maintains the accuracy of the gauges, but the differences are under 2 percent, which is very small; 205/50-15 will give ever so slightly better cornering; 195/55-15 will give ever so slightly better grip on wet pavement. Again, these differences are so small as to be basically insignificant.

Tire availability can be a big difference, if the tire you want isn't available in both sizes.

Then you must mean the BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S. It's a good all-season, but a bit more expensive than the other two mentioned above (it's $91/tire in 205/50-15).

Actually the 195/55/15 size he was refering to are on tirerack for $77 and if you go to a retailer such as Sears or town fair tire they can do a price match and be even cheaper.

Nope, that's a different tire - the "BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S H&V", which is in a lower performance category than the other tires we're talking about here.

The A/S H&V is actually what I was refering to,I just didn't know I had to be that specific about it because those are the only G-Sports available in 195/55/15.They are pretty good IMO especially if the OP doesnt want any expensive tires.

The Kumho ASX is better, for less money.

I have had both and In some aspects the asx's are better but in my experience the Bfgoodrich's had better snow traction and were less noisy. The difference is only $7.Not saying Kumho's are junk or less superior,This isn't my car just stating my opinion.
